The British American Football Association (BAFA) has announced an exciting new initiative in partnership with Union Jack Classic, aimed at enhancing the development of coaches across the UK game.

The BAFA x Union Jack Classic Coaching Clinics will provide unique opportunities for British American football coaches to learn directly from experienced American college football staff, bringing elite-level insight to the domestic coaching community.

The first clinic is set to take place online on Tuesday, 28 April, featuring Kansas University Jayhawks Associate Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator Andy Kotelnicki. In this opening session, Kotelnicki will deliver an in-depth breakdown of the run game, offering attendees a valuable look into his offensive philosophy and approach at the NCAA level.

Kotelnicki began his coaching career as a student offensive line coach during his senior year at Wisconsin–River Falls. He was hired as an offensive assistant at Western Illinois before returning to UW-River Falls as the Falcons' offensive coordinator. Kotelnicki was appointed as the offensive coordinator of Division II University of Mary in 2011 and coached there for two seasons before being hired by Lance Leipold at Winona State for the same position, where he won a Division III title with the Warhawks.

Leipold and Kotelnicki's partnership was taken on the road when the pair were hired by the University of Buffalo, before moving on to the Jayhawks in 2021. In December 2023, Kotelnicki was appointed as the OC of Penn State, working with James Franklin. In the 2024 season, the Nittany Lions set a school record with 13 wins while also reaching the CFP semi-finals. The Minnesota native then returned to the University of Kansas as the associate head coach to partner up with Coach Leipold once again.

A key feature of the clinics will be their interactive format, allowing British coaches to engage directly with guest speakers. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain practical insights from some of the top minds in American college football.

The clinics are open to all BAFA-registered coaches, whether fully qualified or currently working towards certification. In addition to the learning experience, participants will receive 5 BAFCA CPD points upon completion of the session.

Coaches can now register for the first clinic via the official BAFA booking system:

This new partnership marks a significant step forward in coach development within British American football, strengthening ties with the US game and providing accessible, high-quality education for coaches at all levels
